During a keynote speech at the 2025 World Economic Forum, President von der Leyen outlined the roadmap for European competitiveness for the next five years. She also reiterated the EU’s commitment to the Paris Agreement and that the EU remains open for partnerships with countries around the world.

Tomorrow, as part of the commitments made in its EU Antisemitism Strategy (2021-2030), the Commission is publicly commemorating the Holocaust. The Holocaust is a defining legacy of the EU.

The EU continues to remain a leading global humanitarian aid donor. With more than 300 million people estimated to need humanitarian assistance in 2025, the EU announced an initial humanitarian budget for 2025 of €1.9 billion.

The EU has announced a new aid package worth €120 million to continue support Palestinians in need. This brings the total EU humanitarian assistance to Gaza to over €450 million since 2023 and comes in addition to the EU Air Bridge Flights which have delivered over 3,800 tonnes of aid.

The Commission has presented an EU Action Plan to strengthen the cybersecurity of hospitals and healthcare providers.
